Jeff Wall-
Jeff Wall's styles are centered usually around people and their interactions with either other people or their environment. Most photos are in color but the colors are usually used or less saturated allowing for less distractions from the subjects. The subject tends to be ordinary looking people in average situations yet the scene as a whole seems to be somehow different than reality. An example would be the picture After Invisible Man. Images that involve different and opposing angles are also a signature of Wall's as he enjoys to photograph things in our environment that use opposing angles and uses them to his advantage. These could be images like A Sudden Gust of Wind, where he sees the horizon line to draw your eye across the image.
Steve McCurry-
Steve McCurry's subjects are almost always people looking directly into the camera lens. The people are from all walks of life from rural America to exotic places such as India and South Africa. None of the subjects have any make-up or editing done to them and they all look as if they had been pulled directly off of the streets of any random town or village. The color in all of the images pops quite a bit and really surrounds the faces of these people
Nancy Safford-
Nancy Safford is very different from McCurry and Wall as her photos are not staged or choreographed at all, instead allowing for the composition to speak for itself in some way. All of her pictures are in black and white and either feature lower class families or the areas in which they live and their lifestyles. Most pictures of people involve them doing some action such as working on a boat or children playing in an empty church. No one in the photographs is doing anything purely for the sake of the photograph.
